Catch! and Sausagehead To Be Featured At SMMASH Fest

Director Josh Williams crosses his fingers, hoping for a "TASTIE" Award.

October 17, 2005 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ozark, MO - Chronic Zing Entertainment is proud to announce that both Catch! and Sausagehead will show at SMMASH Fest 2005 in Excelsior, Minnesota (just outside of Minneapolis). SMMASH stands for Strictly Midwest Movies And Short Hits. The festival supports Midwestern independent film and filmmakers, giving them an opportunity to screen their films and showcase Midwestern talent. SMMASH strictly limits its entries to films produced by filmmakers in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas.

One of Chronic Zing's two films was specifically requested by SMMASH Fest's staff. "We want Sausagehead!!!," read an e-mail from John Swon, Festival Director. Winners at SMMASH Fest receive a statue called a "Tastie" Award, a sort of Minnesota Oscar.

Unfortunately, neither Catch! nor Sausagehead were nominated for any of the regular awards. But both films will be shown three times each during the week-long festival and will be eligible for the Audience’s Taste Award for Best Short.

Will Sausagehead or Catch! be honored with a Tastie Award?

The Tastie Award, a sort of Minnesota Oscar. The statue is prized by filmmakers, British actors, and sausage-eating clowns alike. Who-woulda-thunk-it?

"We're just happy to be showing," says Josh Williams, director of both films. "There is strong competition at this festival and we're just happy to be there."

Among the actors featured in SMMASH Fest 2005's films are Donal Logue (FOX's Grounded For Life) and British actor John Cleese (The Monty Python movies and countless other films). Both have been nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectfully.
