Chronic Zing Entertainment Announces the Release of Their Latest Film, Catch!, With a Premiere This Week in Branson, Missouri.
Ozark, MO - May 2, 2005 – Two of Chronic Zing Entertainment’s short films will be open to public viewing this week as they premiere their latest film, Catch!. Also being shown is their award winning production Sausagehead. The two films will be coupled together in one presentation on Thursday night, May 5, at the Branson Meadows Cinema in Branson, Missouri. Showtime is at 9:00 pm. A second showing in the same venue is scheduled for Sunday, May 8, also at 9:00 pm. Both viewings are for the general public and are free of charge.
“We’re very excited about this premiere,” says Josh Williams, who served as both writer and director on both of these films. “This is a great opportunity for us to get our work seen, get some feedback, and hopefully spark some interest in what it is we’re doing.” Catch!, a thirty-five minute comedy, went into production in September of 2004. It stars local talent Phil Carlson, J.BO, and Colton Smith. The story evolves around two friends, Steve (Carlson) and Will (J.BO), as they land in a very unfortunate and uncomfortable situation. They believe themselves to have killed a third character by the name of Dweeb (Smith) after hitting him in the head with a baseball and knocking him from the top of a tree to the ground 40 feet below. “This is the real reason we make our films,” says Williams. “There’s nothing better than sitting in a dark theatre with a bunch of complete strangers enjoying what it is you’ve spent so many months creating.” The other part of the evening’s entertainment will be Chronic Zing’s short film entitled Sausagehead. In November of last year, Sausagehead was honored with the Best Picture Award at the Show-Me Digital Film Festival in Cape Girardeau, Mo. “Sausagehead is very much an experimental film,” says Jason Spencer, the other creative force behind Chronic Zing’s films (Besides being co-producer, he served as Director of Photography and Editor on both projects). “It was initially seen as a simple practice film leading up to Catch!. The end result and the response we have received from those who’ve seen it was far beyond our expectations.” |

This will be the very first public viewing for Catch! and the first local viewing of Sausagehead.
“There are a lot of people in southwest Missouri that have been very supportive of us over the years, and this is an opportunity for us to say thank you and to show them the work that they have been anticipating from us,” says Williams. “It also gives us an opportunity to introduce ourselves to people in the area that maybe haven’t heard about us and to say ‘Hey, here we are.’”
“And we hope people realize that despite the humorous content in our films, we’re serious filmmakers that are serious about our craft,” Spencer adds. “When the public sees Catch! and Sausaghead, I think it will be obvious that these films are different than what someone's teenage nephew makes in his basement.”
Chronic Zing Entertainment is a multi-award winning production company based in southwest Missouri. Founded in 2000 by Josh Williams and Jason Spencer, Chronic Zing has produced several Internet based comedy shorts, television pilots, and short films. In 2004 they were awarded a Best Picture award for their film Sausagehead at the Show-Me Digital Film Festival. Earlier that same year they were honored with a Telly Award for their television pilot entitled Bill Across America.
The premiere of Catch! is at 9:00 pm Thursday May 5 and Sunday May 8, at the Branson Meadows Cinema in Branson, MO.
